Curriculum Opportunities

We pride ourselves on a wide range of curriculum opportunites for our students

It’s not the curriculum that we offer that sets us apart, it’s the manner in which it’s delivered

Any school can teach a curriculum. Amazing schools like ours is full of teachers actively and passionately exploring the possibilities of making their teaching practice more innovative, engaging and fun at every turn. This is the single ingredient that drives the most growth in our students.

The success we attain is not only evidenced by the assessment data – but it’s seen through the smiles and joy we see on our student’s faces as a concept is grasped. This is the indefinable element that drives us as teachers to produce and grow our own teaching skills year in, year out.

Student Wellbeing

The social, emotional, moral, spiritual and physical wellbeing of our students is pivotal to their success in school and their future lives. Students who are socially and emotionally resilient are able to deal positively with life’s challenges, and are well placed to develop into well-balanced and successful adults.

Education in Faith

Religious Education is at the centre of both the formal and informal Catholic school curriculum.

Literacy

At St Patrick’s we strive to engage students in a purposeful and relevant literacy program. We aim to empower learners to engage confidently with the English language, aspiring to develop students who are able to communicate and comprehend effectively in their world.

At St Patrick’s we aim to equip all students to be confident and effective mathematical problem solvers in their world. We provide an active learning and teaching environment where students develop Numeracy knowledge, skills and understandings, through open-ended tasks and flexible groupings.

Learning & Teaching

We engage students through an Inquiry approach which integrates with our faith traditions to enable students to make meaning of our World. Our inquiry learning is grounded in the disciplines of Humanities (History, Geography, Economics, Civics and Citizenship), Science, Health and the Capabilities of the Victorian Curriculum.

Physical Education

Physical Education lessons are held on a weekly basis with a specialist Physical Education teacher. Emphasis is on skill development , team work, fitness and enjoyment in a supportive environment.

Visual Arts

All students participate in a weekly class in the area of Visual Arts. The students learn the skills of producing their own art through participation in painting, drawing, sculpture and creating 3D art pieces.

Languages (Italian)

Each class from Prep to Year 6 participates in Italian lessons on a weekly basis. These lessons include cultural immersion and exposure to the spoken language.

eLearning

At St Patrick’s the Digital Technologies curriculum enables students to become confident and creative developers of digital solutions, so they can take up an active role in meeting 21st century needs. We provide practical opportunities for students to explore, design, manage and evaluate digital systems to transform data into information, innovate to solve problems, and creatively communicate ideas.
