Numeracy
Solving Real World Problems
St Patricks’s Catholic Primacy School believes that Mathematics encourages children to develop critical thinking skills and solve problems in the real world.
Numeracy
At St Patrick’s we aim to equip all students to be confident and effective mathematical problem solvers in their world. We provide an active learning and teaching environment where students are explicitly taught Numeracy knowledge, skills and understandings.
Our sequential Mathematics curriculum incorporates the teaching of Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics and Probability. By engaging in meaningful discussion, explaining strategies and justifying reasons, students develop an increasingly sophisticated capacity for logical thought and action, using mathematics to make informed decisions and solve real-life problems efficiently.
Students develop fluency through regular revision and practice of mathematical skills and concepts. Teachers respond to the diverse needs of learners, providing opportunities to deepen students’ understandings, and promoting a positive attitude towards mathematics.
It’s not the curriculum that we offer that sets us apart...
....it’s the manner in which it’s delivered. Our teachers actively and passionately explore the possibilities of making their teaching practice more innovative, engaging and fun at every turn. This is the single ingredient that drives the most growth in our students.
